Notification for Conscripts Can Be Done Electronically: Russia

The State Duma of the Russian Federation will discuss amendments to the "Law on Conscription and Military Service" on April 11, which pertain to the creation of a unified register for conscripts. This was announced by Andrey Kartapolov, head of the State Duma's Defense Committee.

According to him, these amendments aim to rectify deficiencies in military registration that became apparent in 2022. The official noted that the bill also includes changes to the procedure for notifying citizens: notifications can be received through both paper notices and electronically.

Kartapolov added that electronic notifications will carry the same legal weight as traditional paper notifications.

The amendments to the law also stipulate that conscripts who receive a notification from the military commissariat are prohibited from leaving Russia.

Press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, commented on the proposed changes to the conscription law. He noted that a second wave of mobilization is not expected in the country. While commenting on the implementation of electronic notices, Peskov stated that work on the bill is currently ongoing. The Kremlin spokesman further added that panic will not ensue in the country due to these changes, as they are not related to mobilization.
