Khandanyan on the Draft Decision to Send an CSTO Mission to Armenia

The draft decision to send a CSTO mission to Armenia is currently in the development phase, and the Armenian side does not yet see an acknowledgment from the CSTO regarding Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory.

This was stated by the chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Sarkis Khandanyan, during a briefing with journalists in the parliament.

“This issue was publicly discussed at a high level for the last time in March when Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan was in Moscow. I reaffirm that this draft is under development. The Armenian side insists that the draft must record Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia's sovereign territory and provide a political assessment. Only after that can we talk about the deployment of the mission and its parameters. In other words, first of all, the CSTO as an organization must acknowledge what has happened concerning Armenia's sovereign territory, namely that there has been aggression and the occupation of Armenian territories,” Khandanyan stated.

According to him, the Armenian side does not see this acknowledgment, and only after viewing it can discussions about the rest take place.
