The incident is more significant than initially presented, as it could have directly involved the U.S. and NATO allies in the war with Ukraine, the newspaper noted, again referencing the Pentagon documents.

Earlier reports indicated that an American drone was downed over the Black Sea. Subsequently, the Pentagon announced that they had shot down the Russian Su-27 fighter jet.
