Ceasefire Violation in Martuni Region: Russian Ministry of Defense on the Situation in Artsakh

On April 9, a violation of the ceasefire regime was recorded in the Martuni region. There were no casualties or injuries reported. This was stated by the Russian Ministry of Defense in its daily briefing.

It was reported that the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is conducting an investigation into the fact of the ceasefire violation.

The Russian peacekeeping contingent continues to carry out tasks in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh. Russian peacekeepers are monitoring the situation and ensuring compliance with the ceasefire regime around the clock at thirty observation posts.

Patrols have been conducted along three routes in the Martakert, Martuni, and Shushi regions. Since November 23, 2020, the engineering and sappers groups of the Russian peacekeeping contingent have cleared 2,527.3 hectares of land, 689.5 km of roads, and 1,940 buildings from unexploded ordnance, and 26,790 explosive devices have been discovered.

Continuous cooperation is maintained with the general staffs of the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia to ensure the safety of Russian peacekeepers and prevent possible incidents.
