VIDEO: Train derails in the Netherlands, 30 injured, 1 fatality
Several dozen people have been injured due to a train derailing in the Netherlands, according to Reuters, citing emergency services.
On Tuesday morning, a passenger train carrying at least 50 people derailed after colliding with construction equipment on the tracks, with dozens of people reported injured, many of them seriously, Dutch emergency services stated. It has also been reported that there is one fatality.
It was mentioned that some of the injured have been hospitalized, while others received assistance on-site. Earlier, the agency reported that rescue teams had arrived at the accident site near the village of Voorschoten in South Holland.
In addition, the agency noted via a statement from Dutch Railways (NS) on its Twitter microblog that passenger transport between the city of Leiden and certain parts of The Hague has been canceled due to the accident.
