Simonyan Responds to Levon Ter-Petrosyan's Statement

“I expected everything, but it was truly unexpected that the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, would demand my resignation,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, on his Facebook page.

“I am grateful for being compared to historical figures such as Roosevelt, Truman, Clinton, and others. However, if Levon Ter-Petrosyan has found peace or alleviation after being labeled a traitor over notorious events, that is his choice. I am not a traitor, I have never been, and I will never be. The day my compatriots, gathered in the streets, need my leadership again, I will not sit at home but will be by their side, regardless of what anyone says later.”

“The historian president should know well what the unforgivable mistakes are and what price the leaders of a country that has committed unforgivable mistakes pay in history.”

“P.S. Taking this opportunity, I am also disseminating this article by Levon Ter-Petrosyan and inviting him to the only authority endowed with primary mandate—the National Assembly of Armenia—for a discussion on the greatest damages inflicted on the state’s credit during history,” emphasized Simonyan.

It should be recalled that Levon Ter-Petrosyan had addressed the incident that took place at Cascade.
