Russian Military Base Pilots to Conduct Combat Training Flights in Armenia
In Armenia, the personnel of the operational-tactical and army aviation units of the Southern Military District (SMD) will conduct combat training flights during which a number of tasks will be performed as part of the winter training cycle inspections. This information was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
According to the statement, pilots of the MiG-29 multi-role fighters will work on air combat engagement, the defense of the airfield area, and the targeting of aerial objects. They will perform complex and high-flying maneuvers in mountainous regions (combat turns, horizontal 'barrel' rolls, wingovers, peak climbs with large angles of bank, etc.) at various altitudes, including extremely low levels. Special attention will be paid to verifying and coordinating the performance of tasks during the missions.
“The Mi-8MTV-5 and Ka-52 helicopter crews will target ground objectives simulating enemy personnel and equipment, relocate to a reserve airfield, and work on coordination with the SMD base units in the 'Alagyaz' and 'Kamkhud' mountainous training grounds. Additionally, the servicemen will carry out search and rescue operations for conditionally injured soldiers and refine their skills in search and rescue work,” the report from the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.
The agency added that all combat training flights of the army and operational-tactical aviation will be conducted during both daytime and nighttime, in pairs, small groups, and as part of squadrons. The performance of the engineering and technical support units will also be evaluated during the inspections.
