Which legislation do you agree to subject the forest to genocide? A user raises concerns
Facebook user Ara Arayan has made a post stating that the Ministry of Environment of Armenia has published clarification in response to his previous entry. He writes: "So, point by point, with facts: They say that on May 19, 2022, a competition regarding public beaches was held. This is true, BUT this so-called competition was held in a blatantly falsified and illegal manner. The results of the competition and the winning party's program were not published immediately after the competition. After numerous applications, a minute extract and the winning party's program were provided one MONTH after the competition. They say the beach zone is below the 1905 mark, and the cleaning of the forest strip in the area is regulated by law. Yes, this is no secret. The Armenian government's decision No. 752 from June 7, 2012 states that the 5th beach planned in the administrative area of Lchashen is below the 1905 mark. And then? I will attach a map accompanying the mentioned decision below the post. You can see that the areas neighboring this territory and the areas beyond the highway towards Lchashen are also below the 1905 mark. Everything below that mark continues into the forest area up to Chkalovka village, and a significant part of the Norshen forest reserve is also below the 1905 mark. And then? Which legislation do you agree to subject the forest to genocide, oh village heads of the forest? Well, cut down all the trees in that area, and subject the Norshen reserve to genocide, hand it over to someone and let them build a ski resort and a pool: Thousands of buildings and garbage remain underwater below the 1905 mark. The government’s decision concerns that matter, cleaning the lake of that garbage, and does not permit the construction of major buildings below the 1905 mark, nor does it call for the destruction of forests. And you, according to the ‘winning’ program for beach No. 5, are declaring a project to build a heated pool and a restaurant below the 1095 mark. The winner in his program promises to 'clean the area from the Chichkhani thickets' before the competition and you, the ‘guardians’ of Armenia's nature, recognize such a project as the winner. Here are the facts:
- Please specify the legislation under which you destroyed the forest.
- Publish the videos and photos of the forest 'registered' before the destruction.
- According to the competition, the National Park 'Sevan' signed a contract with the winning party within a 3-day period. This means that the tenant is responsible for this area, why did the National Park carry out this work, under what contract, how much was paid, and where is the Environmental Impact Assessment?
- There is no program, there is no project, a public hearing should have taken place on April 4, 2023, at the Lchashen community mayor’s office, but the forest has already been cut down. Well, answer it," wrote Arayan. More details in the original source.
