Woman Stages Burglary at Home, Reports Theft

On the evening of March 28, a resident of Alaverdi reported to the Tumanyan police that during the day, while they were away from home, their front door had been opened and that more than one and a half million drams and 16,000 Russian rubles had been stolen after breaking the plaster piggy banks in the bedroom closet. Moreover, the door had been opened and closed with a modified key without damaging the lock.

The police stated that an operational group, an expert, and an investigator were dispatched to the scene. Urgent measures were undertaken to unveil the crime and locate the stolen items. A criminal case was initiated, and operational-investigative activities were carried out. However, every time a fact was clarified, new questions arose instead of answers.

The next day, the main answer was revealed. It turned out that the incident was not a theft, but rather a staged imitation of a burglary. Through undertaken measures, it was substantiated that for about a year and a half, the wife of the complainant had been secretly withdrawing various sums from the money accumulated from her husband's salary in the piggy banks or misleading her husband into believing that no money was being put into the piggy banks, using the money instead to settle debts or address other household issues.

In order to avoid problems with her husband, on March 27, she mixed up and scattered items in the bedroom, broke the piggy banks, took the remaining 100,000 drams and 16,000 rubles, locked the door with her own key, and left with her young daughter to her husband’s paternal home. The next day, they returned to Alaverdi as a family, and the unsuspecting husband reported the incident to the police. The police’s task is to uncover the reality.

The woman has confessed to the act. The circumstances are under investigation.
