Surmalu Market Reopens

On March 23, 2023, the State Inspection of Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety conducted a supervisory check at the "Yerevan Canning Factory" closed joint-stock company located at 15 Arshakunyats Avenue in Yerevan (formerly known as Surmalu Market). The purpose of the inspection was to verify compliance with the requirements set forth in the previously issued directive following prior oversight.

According to the fire safety experts of the inspection body, significant works have been carried out in the company, resulting in a considerable reduction in the risk of fire, and eliminating the basis for partially or completely suspending the company’s operations.

Consequently, after examining the situation, Garik Khachatryan, the head of the RA Ministry of Urban Development State Inspection, decided on March 30 to permit the operation of the "Yerevan Canning Factory" CJSC. At the same time, a directive was issued to the company's director, establishing a clear timeline for eliminating the existing breaches of fire safety regulatory documents within a short period.
