Protests in France continue unabated, with the wave of demonstrations spreading to new cities. Reports indicate that police are using harsh measures to disperse the protests.
Hundreds of thousands have taken to the streets once again against pension reforms. Meanwhile, street actions in Paris and several other cities have turned into riots. According to France's Ministry of the Interior, 175 police officers have been injured in the clashes, while at least two protesters were also wounded in Paris. Police have detained around 200 violators.
It is worth noting that the reform proposes raising the retirement age threshold from 62 to 64 and eliminating several special pension regimes to ensure the financial balance of the social system. This reform was presented in January and immediately sparked numerous protests.
On March 16, French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne announced the adoption of a bill to change the pension system. Representatives of trade unions and opposition political parties condemned the government's actions and called for more strikes across the country.
