I Have a Big Request: Please Don’t Praise Ranos Too Much—Petrakov on Newcomers and Potential Goalkeeper Inclusions
The head coach of the Armenian national team, Alexander Petrakov, spoke at a post-match press conference regarding the match against the Cyprus national team.
“It was quite a good match. It was an educational game. I received a lot of new information from this game; there were many newcomers. We really wanted to win, but unfortunately, we didn’t succeed. I have a big request: please don’t praise Ranos too much. There have been cases when young footballers performed well in the national team, but later their careers did not work out. Seven players made their debut in the national team. Everyone made a good impression,” said the coach.
Alexander Petrakov also discussed potential newcomers in the goalkeeper position for the national team. In response to questions about inviting goalkeepers Ognjen Čančarević (“Alashkert”) and Vsevolod Ermakov (“Ararat-Armenia”) to the national team, Petrakov stated:
“Čančarević is already 34 years old, and as for Ermakov, we need to wait until June to understand the answer to that question. There is a 19-year-old young goalkeeper playing in Brazil whom we are following. There are certain difficulties with players playing across the ocean. He may represent the Brazil U20 national team. Nevertheless, we should try to involve that goalkeeper.”
Today, the Armenian national team played a friendly match against the national team of Cyprus at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium. The match ended in a draw with a score of 2-2.
