Samvel Karapetyan Issues Statement

It is unacceptable to jeopardize the long-standing friendly relations between Armenia and Russia, as well as the partnership between the peoples of the two countries. This was stated by Samvel Karapetyan, head of the Tashir Group of Companies and the Armenian Businessmen's Association. He made this comment in light of the International Criminal Court's decision regarding the leadership of the Russian Federation and Armenia's plans to join the Rome Statute.

“In recent days, the Armenian government has frequently issued ambiguous calls to international organizations to support the imposition of sanctions against Russia, particularly against the country's top officials. Such actions directly threaten Armenian-Russian relations in terms of economic, political, military, and cultural cooperation,” noted Karapetyan.

He emphasized that Russia is Armenia's primary partner in foreign trade and economic matters and a guarantor of the country's border security. The friendly ties between the two nations are the foundation of stability in bilateral relations, and undermining Armenia's and Russia's allied friendship could pose a challenge to the security of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), where Russian peacekeepers ensure a peaceful life for 120,000 Armenians.

On behalf of the Armenian Businessmen's Association, Samvel Karapetyan urges the country's leadership to soberly assess all possible risks of such statements and to avoid jeopardizing the partnership between Armenia and Russia.
