New Routes Expected to Serve Residents Starting April, Says Sargsyan
All competitions announced by the Transport Department have taken place, except for the design work of pedestrian signal systems, which did not proceed due to a lack of participants, informed Haik Sargsyan, head of the Transport Department of Yerevan Municipality.
He emphasized that an agreement on road marking works will be signed this week, and if weather conditions are favorable, implementation will begin next week.
Regarding the operation of new buses in the capital, Sargsyan stated that this weekend, drivers have been undergoing training at the Yerevan Transport facility. Eighty drivers have received positive evaluations from practical and theoretical sessions. “We are still in the process of recruiting drivers, there are still vacant positions, but this will not prevent us from having routes serving the residents starting in early April,” he noted.
Tigran Avinyan also instructed to have a clear timeline before the next operational meeting. “We have 237 idle buses, and I ask you to present the complete program at the next operational meeting. It is expected that you will announce how many buses will be deployed on specific routes and within what timeframe,” he remarked.
