Boxer Anastasia Demurchyan Wins World Championship Title; Putin Congratulates
Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated boxer Anastasia Demurchyan on winning the championship title in the women's boxing world championship for the 70 kg weight class, held in New Delhi, India.
“I sincerely congratulate you on your brilliant victory. At the world championship, you demonstrated the bright qualities of a leader, skill, willpower, and surpassed strong and experienced rivals, confirming the firm and confident positions of the domestic boxing school,” reads the congratulatory message published on the Kremlin's website.
The 18-year-old athlete, representing the city of Anapa, won the finals with a score of 5:0 against Australian Frances Scott. For her success at the championship, she received a prize of $100,000.
