The Enemy Has Intensified Its Gunfire: Takhouhi Tovmasyan Raises Alarm

The Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs of the National Assembly, Takhouhi Tovmasyan, writes:

“The enemy has intensified its gunfire, resulting in the deadly wounding of an Armenian soldier at the Armenian border, firing upon peaceful residents of Artsakh, and once again blocking the gas supply to Artsakh. THIS IS A CALL to my international partners.

On March 22, in a combat position located in the Eraskh area, soldier Arshak Seryozha Sargsyan sustained a fatal gunshot wound from enemy fire. On the same day, residents of the city of Shartat, including H. Harutyunyan, A. Ghahramanyan, M. Jivanyan, G. Ghukasyan, K. Davtyan, A. Adamyan, and D. Davtyan, while performing agricultural work in the vineyards located in the administrative area known as “Klazin Dzor,” came under fire from Azerbaijani armed forces.

Irregular gunfire from Azerbaijani combat positions adjacent to the vineyards was directed at civilians, causing agricultural work to cease.

In the meantime, Azerbaijan has once again blocked the only gas pipeline from Armenia to Artsakh. Thus, Azerbaijan is violating both the agreements of the November 9 statement and several principles and norms of international law.

I have sent urgent letters to all my international partners, alarmingly reporting the gross violations of international law by Azerbaijan and requesting that all possible preventive measures be taken to restrain Azerbaijan’s criminal actions.”
