The Appeal Against the Legitimacy of Gevorg Petrosyan's Arrest Has Been Granted
The first instance criminal court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, presided over by Judge Armine Meliksetyan, has today granted the appeal regarding the legitimacy of the arrest of Yerevan State University lecturer and lawyer Gevorg Petrosyan. This information was shared by lawyer Raffi Aslanyan.
“The court confirmed the violation of Gevorg Petrosyan's rights during the arrest, explaining to him his right to compensation and the procedure according to Armenian legislation,” the lawyer wrote on his Facebook page.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian police reported that patrol officers had noticed a Mercedes vehicle on the Abovyan-Yerevan highway, whose driver was driving erratically and attempted to pull him over. The driver did not comply with the lawful order to stop, refused to undergo sobriety testing, and threatened the officers while trying to flee. Law enforcement pursued the driver down Tsarav Aghbyur Street, and eventually managed to forcefully stop the vehicle. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
