Lawyer Arrested for Attempting to Bribe Police Officer Due to Lack of Driver's License

Lawyer Levon Gevorgyan has been arrested. This information was provided by the Anti-Corruption Committee.

Previously, it was reported that Levon Gevorgyan had been apprehended on suspicion of offering a bribe to a police officer. On March 22, at 01:25, officers from the Patrol Service of the Police of the Republic of Armenia stopped a Toyota vehicle in the Hrazdan Gorge for a routine check. The driver was found to be without a driver's license, prompting the passenger to offer 40,000 drams to the officers.

The passenger was arrested on grounds of suspicion of bribery and was brought to the Davtashen police department. Relevant documents have been prepared and submitted to the investigative body.

A criminal case has been initiated within the Investigative Committee under Article 436, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia regarding the elements of bribery, which has been transferred to the Anti-Corruption Committee for further investigation.
