A Film About Hrant Dink to Be Produced in Turkey

A film about Hrant Dink will be produced in Turkey, as reported by Ermenihaber. Turkish writer and musician Sina Kolohlu announced this on his Twitter page. According to him, the script has been written by Turkish director and screenwriter Barış Pirhasan, while the directing duties will be led by Zeynep Günay. Filming is set to begin in 2024.

It is worth noting that Hrant Dink was murdered on January 19, 2007, in front of the editorial office of the "Agos" newspaper in Istanbul. He consistently spoke out about the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in Turkey. Dink advocated for dialogue between the Armenian and Turkish peoples, emphasizing that it would lead to the normalization of relations between the two countries. Before his death, he was convicted under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, which prescribes punishment for "insulting the Turkish nation."

Following his assassination, mass protests erupted across Turkey. The murder was condemned by foreign leaders and the international community.
