309 Individuals Still Considered Missing from Armenia: Red Cross
More than 6,000 calls and visits have been received from families of missing persons at our office in Yerevan. 62 families have appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to clarify the fate of their missing relatives and have opened search requests. 63 families have clarified the fates of their relatives.
This information was published by the ICRC delegation, summarizing humanitarian work conducted in Armenia in 2022. According to the committee, 309 individuals are still considered missing from Armenia as a result of the escalations of conflict in 2020, 2021, and September 2022.
Following the escalation of the conflict in 2020, visits have been made to the families of 80 missing individuals as part of needs assessments. Six informational meetings were organized with the families of missing persons from the 2020 conflict as part of the "Support" program launched in Armavir. 18 informational meetings have been held with families of 141 missing persons from the 1990s conflict regarding ICRC activities and recent developments in the region.
More than 1,550 oral, audio-visual, and written messages from the Red Cross have been shared with the families of those detained in connection with the conflict. The committee reports that the ICRC regularly visits detained individuals, facilitating communication and connection with their relatives.
