VIDEO. "It's regrettable that Ms. Zakharova does not address, for example, Azerbaijan's response," says Alen Simonyan
Armenia has agreed to Russian proposals 99 percent of the time, while the issue has been the disagreement from the Azerbaijani side. National Assembly President Alen Simonyan expressed his surprise as to why the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry has not commented on Azerbaijan's response.
Simonyan made this statement during a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly, responding to a remark by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, who stated that the fate of Nagorno-Karabakh is left to the conscience of the Armenian authorities, indicating a shift of responsibility to third countries.
"Russian proposals that have been presented up to this point have always been accepted by Armenia. The problem has been the disagreement on the part of Azerbaijan. I believe that regarding the same Khovaev document and all Russian proposals, the Russian Foreign Ministry should pay more attention to Azerbaijan's response, since in 99 percent of cases, Armenia has accepted Russian proposals. And it is regrettable that Ms. Zakharova does not address, for example, Azerbaijan's response. If the fate of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue is left to the Armenian side's conscience, what has been Azerbaijan's response?" said Simonyan.
