Woman Visiting Prison Attempted to Smuggle Large Quantities of Drug-Like Substances to Husband
The Central Department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia has received information indicating that on March 14, a female visitor is expected to visit the "Armavir" penitentiary facility and attempt to smuggle drugs to her husband, convict K.M., during a long-term visit.
To verify the authenticity of the information, joint measures were undertaken by the operational units of the central department and the facility's security department.
As a result, the aforementioned female visitor who arrived at the "Armavir" penitentiary on March 14 underwent a personal search. Consequently, 9 packages were discovered in her underwear, containing substances resembling heroin, opium, and methamphetamine, weighing 9.17, 3.24, and 2.61 grams respectively, as well as 2 grams of substance similar to marijuana, and 6.17 grams of a white powdery substance.
The woman was arrested by the staff of the "Armavir" penitentiary and presented to the Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia in the Armavir region.
Note: The suspect or accused in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia through a legally enforceable court verdict.
