Aznavour Monument to be Installed in France Square, Project Approved
The monument to French-Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour will be installed in France Square in Yerevan. Members of the Yerevan Council voted overwhelmingly, with 49 in favor and none against, to approve the project presented by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan.
The initiative is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour and has been discussed with the ‘Aznavour’ foundation, Avinyan noted.
“We hope to ensure all technical possibilities to cast the statue in Armenia,” he emphasized.
Avinyan mentioned that the initial proposal was to place the statue directly in front of the Aznavour Square (opposite the ‘Moscow’ cinema), but the potential dimensions of the statue made it impractical for that location.
It is worth noting that a similar statue will also be installed in Paris.
