US House of Representatives Demands Banking Documents from Biden's Son's Associates

The Republican chairman of the U.S. House Oversight and Reform Committee, James Comer, has sent a request to Bank of America for banking documents related to three associates of President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, CNN reports.

This information comes from a letter by senior Democrat Jamie Raskin, who expressed concerns about the investigation. According to Raskin, the inquiry has obligated Bank of America to provide "all financial statements" for a 14-year period, from January 20, 2009, to the present, regarding three individuals.

Raskin stated that the request was specifically directed at U.S. citizen John Robinson Walker and other associates of the president's son, who have formed a joint venture with executives of the now-bankrupt Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC China Energy.

Raskin mentioned that Comer has "received thousands of pages of Mr. Walker's personal financial information, including statements from the joint bank account he shares with his wife over the last decade." In response, a spokesperson for Hunter Biden's legal team told CNN that "Rep. Comer continues to promote nonsensical and already debunked conspiracy theories about the Biden family." The spokesperson added that Comer "is following the orders of former President Trump." Meanwhile, a committee spokesperson confirmed to The Hill that the committee has "received financial statements related to the Biden family's influence." The source added that "these documents reinforce our understandings of several areas of concern and open new avenues for investigating the Biden family's business schemes."
