Georg Petrosyan Charged by Investigative Committee
Georg Petrosyan has been charged for making threats against police officers related to their official duties, according to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
Based on a report received from the patrol service officers of the Kotayk region, on March 12, 2023, within the framework of a criminal proceeding initiated under the third part of Article 452 of the RA Criminal Code, investigative and procedural actions were carried out, including the examination of recordings from the body cameras of the patrol officers.
It was established that on March 12, 2023, around 20:50, Georg Petrosyan, failing to comply with the legal demands of the patrol officers representing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, impeded their official activities. Specifically, he threatened to use violence directed at causing harm to the health of a patrol officer in order to force the police officers to refrain from checking documents and not to undergo sobriety checks. Subsequently, he ignored requests to exit his vehicle, drove away from the scene.
Based on the obtained factual data, the investigator conducting the proceedings submitted a motion to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal prosecution against Georg Petrosyan under the first part of Article 452 of the RA Criminal Code. The motion was granted, and today, March 14, he has been formally charged.
As a measure of restraint, a prohibition on leaving was imposed on Georg Petrosyan.
Note: The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law as defined by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
