VIDEO: Trucks Stopped; Illegal Import of 122 Tons of Fuel from Iran Prevented

The employees of the Customs Anti-Smuggling Department of the Syunik regional division received operational information that the goods imported from the Islamic Republic of Iran through the Meghri customs checkpoint were declared under a different name.

The products, brought in by five trucks, weighed a total of approximately 122,000 kilograms and were declared as aviation fuel for jet engines. To verify the accuracy of this information, monitoring operations were carried out by the employees of the Anti-Smuggling Department after the mentioned products were cleared.

As a result, the said trucks were stopped, and samples were taken from the materials present in these vehicles to determine the actual composition of the substances. According to the expert examination conclusion, the declared products were not aviation fuel for jet engines, but rather gas oil, which is used as an additional component in the composition of diesel fuel.

The economic operator, by not declaring the products under their actual names, avoided paying additional customs duties required for the state budget. An official report regarding the violation of customs regulations was prepared based on Article 316 of the Law on Customs Regulation of the Republic of Armenia. The materials related to the incident have been forwarded to the legal department of the Customs Committee.
