Rescue Service Calls on Population to Observe Fire Safety Rules

The Rescue Service is urging the population to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations. Due to spring agricultural activities, the burning conducted by the population to clear arable lands and pastures from plant residues often spreads, causing significant damage to nature and the environment.

In just the past week, 195 fires have been registered in the country, including 127 in vegetative areas, whereas during the same period last year, only 69 fires were recorded, of which 23 occurred in vegetative areas. During this period, 164.2 hectares have burned, compared to 48.6 hectares last year in vegetative areas.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations' Rescue Service is calling on the population, especially those engaged in agricultural work, to strictly observe fire safety rules, to be attentive to the surrounding environment and green areas, and to refrain from actions that could contribute to the outbreak of fires.

It is reminded that according to the law on “Protection of Atmospheric Air” in the Republic of Armenia, it is prohibited to burn scrublands, areas with plant residues, and dried vegetation, as well as the vegetation of pastures and hayfields within agricultural, forested, and specially protected lands.
