Petrosyan's Health Deteriorates in Police Car, Ambulance Called: MP
The MP from the 'Armenia' faction, Garnik Danielyan, provided details about his meeting with the arrested former MP Gevorg Petrosyan.
“Together with my colleague Arman Ghazaryan, we visited Gevorg Petrosyan, who has been detained for 72 hours. Mr. Petrosyan recounted the details of the incident that occurred with him: According to him, last night officers of the Patrol Service followed him for a considerable amount of time, and then, when he was close to his residence, they approached and tried to forcibly remove him from the vehicle without properly presenting a legal demand. Ultimately, they succeeded in this with the involvement of numerous patrol officers, which resulted in Gevorg Petrosyan being taken in for necessary investigations and subsequently to one of the police departments in Yerevan.
Due to the evident unlawful actions of the patrol officers, Gevorg Petrosyan's health sharply deteriorated in the police car. Emergency service personnel arrived in response to a call, who, after a preliminary examination, insisted that Gevorg Petrosyan needed to be transferred to a medical facility as he had health issues and required immediate medical assistance. However, the patrol officers refused to fulfill this demand, thereby endangering the life of an Armenian citizen.
Finally, after being brought to the police department, Gevorg Petrosyan was transferred to the detention facility, where we visited him today. Despite his health issues and taking medications, Mr. Petrosyan is not mentally distressed. It is evident that all of this occurred as a result of his expressed stance against the ruling power. This incident is yet another proof that the concept of human rights is merely a convenient tool for the representatives of the ruling power to acquire authority,” said Danielyan.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Internal Affairs also issued a statement claiming that Gevorg Petrosyan did not comply with the patrol officers' demands.
