Statue of Charles Aznavour to Be Installed in the Center of France Square, While Rodin's Sculpture Will Be Relocated
The statue of Rodin will be relocated, while a statue of Charles Aznavour will be installed in the center of France Square.
This was reported by municipal council member Isabella Abgaryan on her Facebook page.
“The day before yesterday, a project was presented to our council committee, according to which there is an intention to place a statue of Charles Aznavour in the center of France Square, while Rodin’s sculpture by Jules Bastien-Lepage will be moved to another location within the same square. According to the agreement, Rodin's sculpture must remain in France Square, so at the moment, two sites are being considered: one near the Opera House's passageway leading to the Conservatory Park in the middle of the street, and the other in front of Saryan Park, where taxis used to park,” she shared.
When I inquired why Aznavour’s statue is not being placed in Aznavour Square, which would be more logical, the head of the culture department explained that the statue would be too large, and therefore there isn’t a suitable area in that square. I should also mention that a similar statue will also be installed in France,” she noted.
