MP Hovik Aghazaryan Decides to Fight Street Trade to the End

After an incident with a citizen selling potatoes on Tigranyan Street, MP Hovik Aghazaryan from the ruling party has decided to take his fight against street trade to the end.

Yesterday, the "Hraparak" newspaper learned from sources at the city hall that Aghazaryan has sent a letter to Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, requesting the legal basis for the iron stalls set up on that street, from which it will become clear whether the stall where the potato-selling citizen parked his car has been placed legally or not.

The MP confirmed this information in a conversation with the media, saying that he has not yet received a response. He believes that even if the stalls are legal, the administrative district leadership can recognize it as a priority interest and, compensating the owner, can dismantle the stalls that pose a risk to public health.

Aghazaryan argues that street trading creates hazardous situations. It should be noted that last week, there was a scuffle between the MP and the vendor. Both were summoned to the police station to give explanations, with Aghazaryan being recognized as the victim and the vendor initially arrested and then released. A criminal case is ongoing under Article 297, Part 1, of the criminal code, which pertains to hooliganism.

More details can be found in today's issue of the newspaper.
