Video: Large-Scale Protests in Tbilisi Again with Two Demands from Protesters
Large-scale protests are once again taking place in the center of Tbilisi, despite the ruling party's promise not to adopt the controversial foreign agent law.
According to Sputnik Georgia, the protest started near the Parliament building in central Tbilisi, blocking the city's main avenue once more. Participants of the demonstration have articulated two demands: to complete the procedures for withdrawing the foreign agent bills and to release those detained during the protests. The protest began with organizers' statements regarding possible provocations.
Several thousand people have gathered near the Parliament building, and the area continues to fill up. This marks the third day of protests. The demonstration that took place from March 8 to March 9 lasted for over 16 hours, periodically escalating into clashes between part of the protesters and police responding to violence and vandalism. Only at 8 a.m. did the police manage to completely clear Rustaveli Avenue.
According to the latest data, police detained 66 participants of the rally that night under administrative procedures, while the Special Investigation Service received reports exceeding authority in 22 cases. In total, during the two days, 133 people were detained administratively, with some already released.
