Armenia Ranked Among 'Partly Free' Countries
Armenia has been classified as a 'partly free' country, scoring 54 out of a possible 100 points. In last year's report, Armenia also fell into the 'partly free' category with a score of 55.
This information comes from the international non-governmental organization Freedom House, which released its 2023 report titled 'Freedom in the World.'
According to the 2023 report, Azerbaijan is categorized as 'not free' with a mere 9 points out of 100. Georgia is included in the 'partly free' countries list with a score of 58. Turkey is also classified as not free, scoring 32 points.
The report addresses Armenia's security situation, stating: 'In September 2022, Azerbaijani armed forces invaded Armenian territory. Official reports contained credible evidence that Azerbaijani troops committed war crimes.'
Additionally, it noted that the war in Ukraine has disrupted Russia's ability to govern, leading to an increase in military aggression from the Azerbaijani regime towards Armenia, despite Russia's security guarantees. Azerbaijani armed forces have seized territories along the border with Armenia, heightening the risk of large-scale war.
