Turkish Forces Shell Kobane Region in Northern Syria, Casualties Reported
The Turkish army's artillery has shelled the Kurdish-populated Kobane region in northern Aleppo province, Syria. According to the Firat news agency, the heaviest material damage was inflicted on the villages of Baghdik and Chultep, where several homes have been destroyed.
It has been reported that there are casualties among the civilian population, and the exact number is being confirmed. On Friday, Turkish artillery opened fire on the positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Kurdish units in the northern Raqqa province. According to Firat, two fighters were killed as a result of the shelling in the village of Hushan.
Previously, the SDF command announced a halt to all military operations following the earthquake that hit Turkey on February 6. However, Turkish forces and militants from the Syrian armed opposition swiftly resumed shelling and drone attacks. According to Firat, there have been 27 attacks against Kurdish-controlled areas in northern Syria in the second half of February.
