“They Are Capable of Taking Any Steps to Achieve Their Goals”: Ruben Vardanyan
Due to Azerbaijan's diversionary actions in Artsakh, we have three fatalities and injuries. In fact, after Azerbaijan failed to pressure the people of Artsakh through gas and electricity disruptions while keeping the region under blockade, they have resorted to military means to solve their problems. This was stated by the former Prime Minister of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan.
“I have repeatedly stated that their proposed 'integration' cannot be acceptable to us, as it means that no Armenians can live in Artsakh. The Aliyev regime proves every day that its goal is to remove us from here, to deprive us of our homeland. They are capable of taking any steps to achieve that goal. The events of today are vivid evidence of this.
It is important to remember the words of Commander Vazgen Sargsyan on his birthday. They are more relevant today than ever. He said: 'I hate the term coward; I do not want to be a coward, I do not want to send my compatriots and relatives to their deaths again... And, thank God, our people have overcome that mentality of sacrifice within themselves. In this sense, we must respect this war, and in general, the Artsakh liberation struggle; we must respect the people of Artsakh. This struggle has compelled us to respect ourselves. This is our war. Whether we love it or not, no one loves war, but we are obliged to respect it; without that, we will have no future...'
These are the words of a true leader, for whom the dignified life of his people is above everything else. Our leaders who have taken responsibility must understand that we cannot compromise on our national dignity. The security of our homeland can only be ensured through our will and strength. The alternative to struggle and resistance is to become cowards and homeless, and that we cannot allow,” he wrote.
