Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and Anna Hakobyan visited the residence of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, where they met with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender. According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s office, following the welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Pashinyan and Mrs. Hakobyan made entries in the guestbook, after which the Prime Minister had a private conversation with the President of Germany and Mrs. Hakobyan did the same with Elke Büdenbender.
The meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Germany also continued in an expanded format. Nikol Pashinyan and Frank-Walter Steinmeier discussed a number of issues related to Armenian-German cooperation. The conversation focused on the development of cooperation in the political and economic spheres. In this context, the active cooperation between the governments of both countries was emphasized.
The President of Germany expressed his readiness to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties and highlighted the importance of reforms aimed at the development of democracy in Armenia. Nikol Pashinyan conveyed details regarding the process of institutional reforms and noted that democracy has strategic significance for the Armenian government.
The interlocutors addressed the current processes taking place in the South Caucasus region, the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh resulting from Azerbaijan’s illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor, and other matters of mutual interest.
Mrs. Anna Hakobyan and Elke Büdenbender emphasized the active involvement of the spouses of heads of state in various directions. The wife of the President of Germany highlighted the development of the dual education system and programs implemented in this area, providing details about the steps taken in Germany.
The Prime Minister’s wife noted that the “My Step” foundation is also implementing programs in the field of dual education. The crucial role of women in establishing and reinforcing peace was stressed. In this context, Mrs. Hakobyan invited Elke Büdenbender to attend the international summit on “The Role of Women in Promoting Democracy, Peace, and Security” taking place in Yerevan later this year.
