Newly Appointed Head of Anti-Corruption Court Embezzled 5.8 Million Drams from the State, Claims Ioannisyan
The head of the Anti-Corruption Court is accused of embezzling state funds. Recently, Khachik Ghazaryan, former head of the Judicial Department of Armenia, was appointed as the president of the Anti-Corruption Court. It has come to light that he reportedly misappropriated 5.8 million drams from the state through false business trips.
This information was shared on Facebook by Daniel Ioannisyan, head of the 'Informed Citizens' initiative. He stated, 'For many years, trips were arranged, daily allowances and accommodations were received, but they never actually went on any business trips. Hundreds of business trips were fabricated in this manner. Khachik Ghazaryan was later forced to recover the 5.8 million drams in damages to the state within the framework of a criminal case. Yet instead of being tried, he was appointed as the president of the Anti-Corruption Court (not just a judge but right to president). And then we seriously discuss why the corruption index is deteriorating and why international partners are washing their hands off the formation of the Anti-Corruption Court,' Ioannisyan noted.
