Armenia, Turkey and Other Countries Used to Smuggle Goods into Russia: U.S.

The U.S. government has urged companies to strictly adhere to the sanctions imposed against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine and warned that failure to do so could lead to potential prosecution, Reuters reports.

It is noted that the U.S. Departments of Justice, Commerce, and Treasury have informed about certain 'actors attempting to evade sanctions and export controls related to Russia,' including through third-party intermediaries.

Countries mentioned as being used to illegally transport banned goods to Russia or Belarus include China, Armenia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.

The U.S. executive branch emphasized that entrepreneurs must be aware of the tactics used to bypass restrictions and sanctions against Russia and called for accountability by implementing appropriate rigorous oversight.
