Italian carabinieri have been searching for mafia member Marco Raduano for several days, who escaped from a prison in Sardinia using bedsheets, reports Corriere della Sera. Raduano's escape was captured on surveillance cameras.

He descended a wall tied with bedsheets and then fell to the ground from a low height before disappearing into rural terrain. The administration of the high-security prison in Nuoro, in cooperation with the prosecutor's office, has launched an internal investigation. It was found that Raduano had managed to 'stockpile' bedsheets, circumventing the rules. He also had keys that allowed him to access the prison yard from his cell.

It has been reported that unknown individuals organized fireworks in the city in honor of his escape. Raduano was scheduled to be released only in 2046.
