Death Toll from Earthquake in Turkey Exceeds 45,000
More than 45,000 people have lost their lives due to devastating earthquakes in Turkey. This has been reported by the Hürriyet newspaper, citing the Republic's Emergency Management Authority.
Specifically, in the provinces of Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya, and Elazığ, a total of 45,089 deaths have been recorded.
It is worth noting that the first powerful earthquake struck southeastern Turkey on the night of February 6. The tremors were felt across ten provinces of the Republic and neighboring countries, with Syria reporting the second highest number of casualties and destruction. Later, aftershocks of lower intensity occurred in many regions of the country.
