Ukraine Will Join NATO in the Long-Term, Stoltenberg States

Ukraine will become a NATO member in the long term. This was stated by the alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, according to the Daily Mail.

“NATO allies have agreed that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance, but in the long term,” he said at a joint press conference in Helsinki with Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin.

Stoltenberg added that the current question is for Ukraine to win as a sovereign, independent state, and therefore support for Ukraine must continue. According to him, when the Russia-Ukraine war ends, efforts must be made to prevent history from repeating itself.

For her part, Sanna Marin stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin “cannot continue assaults on neighbors.” “He wants to control Ukraine. He is not planning for peace but for a new war,” said the Finnish Prime Minister, adding that she sees Ukraine's future within the EU and NATO.
