Video: My child was taken away and force was used against us, says former resident of the Ministry of Defense building

“Currently, there hasn't been any discussion about whether we can return to our apartments, but our demand remains the same: we want to go back. I will live in my apartment; that is the solution I see.” This was stated by one of the former residents of the Ministry of Defense building during a conversation with journalists in front of the State Revenue Committee (SRC) building.

When asked about the SRC’s claim that the building does not belong to citizens, the individual responded, “The SRC is saying that, but where was the SRC until now? Where were they since 2018, when that area was left to itself and wasted? Why weren't uniformed personnel guarding that area, which was only being looted? We were notified, and the person who notified us said, ‘I won’t come here to remove you; I’ll retire, but I won’t take you out of here.’ It was SRC employees who said that. They lied to us, and we want to find out why this happened.”

It is reminded that a few days ago, the police urged residents to leave the building, and force was used against some of them. “They took my child away; they were taking chances. Force was also used against us,” he said.

It is noted that the former residents of the Ministry of Defense building have started a protest in front of the SRC, demanding a solution to their issue so that no resident remains homeless.

It is important to note that the residents, who have been fighting for housing for a long time, were forced to leave the building because it has been transferred to the balance of the State Revenue Committee.
