Saakashvili's Condition is Extremely Serious, Doctor Says

The health condition of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is extremely serious, and if his weight loss continues, irreversible processes will begin. This was announced on Monday by Giorgi Grigolia, a doctor from the Georgian Ombudsman’s office.

“Cachexia is worsening. What is happening with Saakashvili is natural; he is losing weight, and there is a degradation process of muscle and already bone tissue. This is occurring because he is not receiving adequate treatment,” Grigolia told reporters.

According to him, if the “political figure’s weight drops to 55 kilograms, then irreversible processes will begin, and he will be bedridden.” Grigolia noted that currently, Saakashvili weighs 64 kilograms, but the trend of weight loss is ongoing.

The doctors from the Ombudsman’s office examined Saakashvili on February 19. The official conclusion from the medical team states that the patient exhibits loss of balance and coordination, decreased mental functions, a self-dissolution process of body tissues, muscle atrophy, fourth-degree cachexia, peripheral and vegetative neurology.
