Due to the blockade of Artsakh, Azerbaijanis will face a water deficit, Beglaryan

Artak Beglaryan, the advisor to the Prime Minister of Artsakh, has announced that due to the blockade of Artsakh, 96,000 hectares of land in Azerbaijan will not receive sufficient water supplies.

"As a result of the blockade of Artsakh, the water resources of the Sarsang reservoir, with a capacity of 600 million cubic meters, have been significantly reduced, which will create a serious crisis in spring and summer, primarily for Azerbaijani farmers, as there will be insufficient water resources," emphasized Beglaryan.

According to him, this will affect the lands of Tartar, Aghdam, Barda, Goranboy, Yevlakh, and Aghjabedi regions of Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister's advisor reminded that Baku, on January 9, deliberately provoked an energy crisis by stopping the supply of electricity from Armenia to Artsakh, as well as periodically interrupting gas supplies.

"During this time, the water resources of the Sarsang reservoir have been severely depleted, as we have produced more water resources, with a capacity of 50 megawatts, for the operation of our main hydroelectric power station than what enters the Sarsang," he noted.

Beglaryan considers the situation critical: "Residents of these regions in Azerbaijan must understand that due to their authorities and self-proclaimed false activists, they will not have sufficient irrigation water this year and will be deprived of this important opportunity to receive food and income," stressed the Prime Minister's advisor.

Earlier, Lusine Avanesyan, the press secretary of the President of Artsakh, announced that an agreement had been reached with the mediation of Russia and Baku regarding the repair of the damaged network and the restoration of electricity supplies from Armenia in the coming days, as Beglaryan reminded.

"Simple logic suggests that the sooner the electricity supply to Artsakh is restored, the more irrigation water Azerbaijani farmers will have in the season," concluded the Prime Minister's advisor.

It should be noted that since 10:30 AM on December 12, the connection between the villages of Lisagor, Mets Shen, Hin Shen, and Yeghdzahogh in the Shushi region and the capital, Stepanakert, has been interrupted. A group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes has blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway under the pretext of environmental reasons. The Lachin corridor remains closed to this day.
