Video: 23 Missing in New Zealand Due to Tropical Cyclone

The New Zealand police have been unable to locate 23 missing individuals during the storm and flooding caused by the tropical cyclone 'Gabriel'. This was reported by the police on Friday.

“Establishing contact with the 23 missing individuals remains a priority for the police, and we are working as quickly as possible using a range of different methods,” the statement said.

“In the past day, the police have carried out 443 preventive measures, during which we received 526 reports, including 15 for theft and 2 for vehicle theft. A total of 13 people have been arrested for various offenses,” the law enforcement officials elaborated.

'Gabriel', which struck New Zealand’s North Island, has caused widespread flooding and landslides in its central and southeastern regions. Eleven people have died, and another 23 are missing. More than 10,000 people have been evacuated from inundated areas, while some locales have lost essential supplies, with around 250,000 residents of the island left without electricity and communication for several days.
