Samvel Babayan Issues Statement

President of the "United Homeland" party, Samvel Babayan has issued a statement. "My arrival in Artsakh has caused a stir, with claims that I have come to hand over Artsakh to Azerbaijan, while former and current leaders are viewed as war criminals by Baku.

Regarding my presence in Artsakh, my family and I are registered and living there, and where I sleep at night is my personal business. I would be accountable for that if I held an official position in Artsakh. Turning my visits to Artsakh into tabloid media material amid a blockade is quite an uninteresting endeavor.

It’s good that you are making self-incriminating statements, especially from the mouths of grant-dependent scoundrels and those who fled from Artsakh. This speaks volumes about the crimes you have committed over the past 20 years, as you are willing to buy media outlets with stolen money from the people of Artsakh, investing money and effort just to keep Babayan from coming.

If you can order a substantive examination of my ideas and proposals, I would even be willing to debate, to show the public the emptiness of your thoughts. Playing with patriotism to mislead no longer works; when you lied about our army being the strongest in the region while funneling the budget into your personal projects, when you organized parades not to be accountable to the public but for photo opportunities, the people were thoroughly convinced in 2020.

I have stated once and I’ll say it again—the criminal junta of Artsakh and Armenia is ready to hand over Artsakh to the Turk just to prevent Samvel Babayan from coming to power. What we see in the media shows the extent of fear among the traitors who brought Artsakh to this state. Those barking and their political sponsors know well that when I take on responsibility, everyone will be held accountable for plundering Artsakh, bankrupting its people, and destroying it.

Yes, I will hold everyone accountable, but I promise I will not hand over anything to Baku. The judgment will be made by the Armenian people in Artsakh, where the foundation of your crimes is buried."
