Snow, Blizzard, Black Ice: The Situation on Roads in Armenia

The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and impassable roads within the territory of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station in Aragatsotn Province towards Amberd Fortress and Kʼari Lake are closed. The Vardenyats Pass is closed only for trucks with trailers due to snow and blizzard conditions. The Dilijani bends are difficult to navigate for trucks with trailers.

The Artik-Geghanist road and the Spitak bends are impassable for freight vehicles. There is black ice in some areas on the roads of Spitak, Gegharkunik Province, and the Aragats region. Snow is falling in the regions of Sisian, the section called "Zanger", Spitak bends, and in the areas of Hrazdan, Aparan, Aragats, Spitak, Gyumri, Ani, Artik, Jambarak, Sevan, Dilijan, Berd, Noyemberyan, and Jermuk.

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Emergency Situations Ministry of Russia's North Ossetia crisis management center regarding Lars, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed only for freight vehicles. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
