VIDEO: Chechen Blogger Critical of Kadyrov Is Not Dead and Shares Details of His Disappearance
Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov, a critic of Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov, reconnected with human rights defenders yesterday and published a video titled "Return" on his YouTube channel more than two months after his disappearance.
In the video, he initially discusses the death of Abdul-Kerim Edilov, referring to him as Kadyrov's three sons' "nanny." He stated, “And when I stopped posting my videos, for some unknown reason Kadyrov's entourage decided that I was dead, that I had been killed. And Abdul-Kerim happily … posted my photo and wrote 'liquidated' underneath. Can you imagine what a twist of fate that is? Now it is Abdul-Kerim who has been 'liquidated,'” the blogger announced, adding that he is alive and well.
He also mentioned that he has “missed blogging but does not reveal the details of his disappearance.”
It is worth mentioning that Abdurakhmanov is one of Kadyrov's main critics. The Chechen opposition blogger left Chechnya in 2015 due to disagreements with one of Kadyrov's relatives, Islam Kadyrov. Later, he began running a YouTube channel where he criticized the Chechen leadership.
