Death Toll from New Earthquake in Turkey Reaches 562
More than 500 people have been affected by another earthquake that struck the Turkey-Syria border on Monday evening, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu announced on Wednesday night.
“During the earthquake in Hatay, six people have died and another 562 have been injured,” Anadolu Agency quoted his words.
On Monday evening, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in southern Turkey. Earlier reports indicated six deaths and 294 injuries.
The recent quakes hit areas already severely damaged in February. On the night of February 6, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck Turkey, resulting in more than 42,000 fatalities. This earthquake also caused significant destruction and casualties in neighboring Syria.
