Iran to Soon Respond to Latest EU Sanctions Against Tehran
The Iranian side will introduce a new package of retaliatory sanctions against the European Union. This was announced today by Nasser Kanani, the official representative of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by ISNA.
“Iran will soon present a new list of sanctions as a countermeasure to the recent restrictions imposed by the European Union against Tehran,” Kanani noted. Earlier, the EU and the UK had expanded individual sanctions against certain Iranian individuals and organizations, considering them participants in the suppression of protests in the country.
Mass protests and unrest began in Iran in mid-September 2022, following the death of young Iranian woman Mahsa Amini. Many residents of the country blamed the authorities for Mahsa’s death.
