We’ve Set Up a Tent and Are Burning Firewood to Stay Warm: Former Residents of the Ministry of Defense Building Share Their Stories
The former residents of the Ministry of Defense building, who were evicted by the police on February 16 under the pretext of illegal intrusion, continue to remain on the premises.
“It’s the fourth night; many residents are sleeping outside. We’ve set up a tent and want to set up a second one, we are burning firewood to stay warm. We have nowhere to go, so what can we do? That’s why we are staying here,” said resident Angelina Evanyan in a conversation with NEWS.am.
It is noteworthy that on February 16, the police acted on a letter from the State Revenue Committee and removed individuals living in the buildings, citing the need to eliminate illegal occupation. On that day, 26 individuals were detained under Article 182 of the RA Administrative Violations Code (failure to comply with the legitimate request of a serviceman or a police officer).
